In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of schools and businesses, Poway OnStage partnered with Westview High School to create an online version of Introduction to Instruments. Poway OnStage extends a huge Thank You to the teachers and students whose creativity and determination brought this online program together.

Introduction to Instruments
This program is designed to inspire 4th grade students to take up an instrument when they enter the 5th grade. During Introduction to Instruments, local high school band and orchestra students serve as mentors to students from 25 elementary schools in the Poway Unified School District. This program serves 2,600 4th graders with participation by 60 high school band students.
Fourth grade students are first introduced to a variety of instruments before entering the theater. Bertrand’s Music provides many different types of instruments for the students to hold and “play” with before the assembly, which is led by the high school band and orchestra students.
