Katie Salo

Katie Salo is the Business Partnerships Manager and Career Education Specialist for the Poway Unified School District, where she also serves as a staff member for the Poway Unified School District Foundation. She is co-chair of the Education Committee with the Poway Chamber of Commerce and a dedicated advocate for workforce development.
With over 28 years of experience in education, Katie spent a decade as a high school social science and AVID teacher in the Grossmont Union High School District and 18 years as an assistant principal at Mt. Carmel High School. She was recognized as the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 18 Assistant Principal of the Year and was elevated in 2019 to California State Assistant Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) for her school site leadership in Career Technical Education and fostering a positive school culture.
A proud product of Poway Unified, Katie is a graduate of Poway High School. In her current role, she builds strategic partnerships between businesses and schools, creating impactful work-based learning opportunities that prepare Poway Unified School District students for future careers.
