Rachel McCarthy Henneforth
Rachel and her family moved to Poway in 1979 and she graduated from Poway High School in 1991. After graduation Rachel attended UC Irvine, earning her Bachelors of Science in Social Sciences with a minor in Psychology. She then returned to Poway to raise her own family. Rachel’s philanthropic career started early on with the mentorship of her parents, Tim and Jane McCarthy, who founded the McCarthy Family Foundation in 1989. Rachel is currently serving her fourteenth year as president of the McCarthy Family Foundation (MFF). She joined the board at 18 years old as a Director and Vice-President. Past philanthropic participation has included the San Diego Youth & Community Services Auxiliary Board, the San Diego HIV Funding Collaborative, representing MFF at Funders Together to End Homelessness, and various speaker panels. Rachel currently serves on the Poway High School PTSA as Treasurer. Over the past 15 years she has held many PTA executive board positions, as well as committee chair and member positions, at all three levels (elementary, middle and high school).
The McCarthy family history with Poway OnStage reaches way back to the beginning in 1991 when Rachel, her sister, parents and the Poway theater community put on The Variety Show to raise money for the capital campaign to fund the PCPA stage. Since then, Rachel’s family has continued to support Poway OnStage and they have enjoyed countless performances in our beautiful center.
Rachel is married and has six children/step-children. Rachel and her husband Jeff started two local businesses in the last three years. Rachel is a partner of Dressed 2 Dance in Rancho Bernardo, a local dance wear store offering the latest in dance apparel. Jeff is the owner of Triton Water Renewal, specializing in reverse osmosis for pool water purification and whole house/ business systems for clean, pure water. Rachel is proud to serve on the Poway OnStage board and the performing arts community she has always loved.
